Dr. Kristi Guadagnoli co-founded Mindworks in 2004 and serves as the Director of Therapy Services. It was her professional goal to develop a clinic where diagnostics and therapy services were delivered in a warm and family friendly environment.
Dr. Guadagnoli received a bachelor’s degree from Manhattan College where she combined an academic and track career. She was a Division I track athlete who served as team captain and was elected by the NCAA to represent other Division I student athletes in policy matters. Throughout her career as a student-athlete she has gained a unique insight into the balance of school/athletics. Her interest in athletics led to undergraduate research in the area of athletic performance and performance enhancement techniques led her to pursue a master’s degree in counseling from Seton Hall University, where she graduated with honors.
Dr. Guadagnoli received her doctoral degree from Antioch New England Graduate School where she trained at Antioch’s health center. There, she provided home-based therapy for homebound families in rural and underserved areas. Under the supervision of Dusty Miller, a leading expert in the area of women and trauma, she co-led groups and provided individual and group therapy for trauma survivors. After training with Dr Miller, she became interested in other treatment modalities for trauma survivors and began studying and training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), the only empirically validated treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder. At the conclusion of her training she provided individual DBT and Skills Training Groups for 2 years. While training in the DBT Unit Dr. Guadagnoli worked with the Crisis Intervention Team triaging crisis calls, evaluating individuals in the emergency room and acting as a first responder with the police and rescue squad.
Her training has been varied and includes developmental and child psychology as well as family therapy. Her primary training and interest has been with adolescent and adult women, her dissertation was in the area of the impact of home and community violence on females. Currently, her clinical interests include developmental issues in women throughout the lifespan. She is also interested in the impact of depressive disorders in women and the impact of depression on marriage, parenting and the family system. Her work has been greatly influenced by the DBT model and the mind-body connection. She uses Mindfulness Training and believes that Yoga and Exercise have a great influence on an individual sense of well being, self-esteem and body confidence.
When she is not working, Dr. Guadagnoli spends a great deal of time with her husband and two children. She enjoys running, yoga, good food and travel.
