Dr. Elizabeth (Lisa) Bennett has worked as a psychologist in a host of schools, hospitals and outpatient settings. After finishing her doctoral studies at the University of Virginia, her training included a predoctoral internship at the renowned Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic of the Children's Hopsital of Philadelphia
. She is currently credentialed as a licensed Clinical Psychologist and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist.
At this time, Dr. Bennett is accepting new clients for therapy and testing. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Bennett is working as Jane Fonda's consulting psychologist on a project related to adolescent self-esteem through the Fonda Family Foundation. Dr. Bennett has published articles related to family process, parenting stress, parent-child relationships and predictors of school adjustment in young children.
Dr. Bennett specializes in child and family therapy, psychoeducational testing, educational advocacy and psychological assessment. She is proud to be one of the few female psychologists in the Northern Virginia area to work on court related services such as immigration hardship waivers and forensic custody evaluations. Dr. Bennett's therapy cases typically include school-age children, adolescents and parents. She has worked with many clients facing anxiety disorders, family problems, mood disorders and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.
Dr. Bennett, a mother of two children, is committed to providing the appropriate balance of warmth, approachability and professionalism for her clients. People working with Dr. Bennett can expect services that are creative and fun, but also goal-directed and scientifically validated.
